About the Course

Breast Cancer is the second most common cancer in the world and if detected in an early stage, it is curable. At Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SSCHRC) a large volume of breast cancer cases, presenting in different stages, are routinely managed. The dedicated Centre for Breast Diseases is equipped with the latest technology such as Digital Breast Tomosynthesis to detect the disease at early stage and treat with multimodality approach, ie., surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy. As well as supportive care such as genetic counselling, post operative prosthesis and rehabilitation, lymphedema care and pain management. The Fellowship Programme in Breast Diseases is recognised by RGUHS and will expose the trainee to all aspects of patient care right from diagnoses to routine follow up and post treatment care.

Course Objectives

At the end of the Fellowship Programme, the candidate will be capable and confident of handling all aspects of diagnosis and management of benign and malignant breast diseases.

Course Duration

18 months. Affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS).

Academic discussions include Multi Disciplinary Tumour Boards, Clinical Seminars, Case Presentations and Journal Clubs. Trainees will have access to the state of the art Molecular Laboratory where advanced molecular research is being taken up. This is an opportunity for surgeons to be a part of research activity and to bring about a significant change in the life of Breast Cancer patients. At the end of the course, the Fellow will be a confident Breast Onco Surgeon, capable of handle all aspects of Breast Cancer Treatment and Prevention.
