FIRST VISIT TO SSCHRC

At Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, we try to keep all processes as patient friendly as possible. The procedure for your first visit can vary depending on whether you have a direct referral for a doctor or not.

1. If you have a direct referral for a doctor at SSCHRC

2. If you are unsure about which doctor to meet at SSCHRC

3. If you are visiting SSCHRC for a check-up or screening

  • Kindly call 080-2698 1000 to book an appointment with the referred doctor.

  • Please note: The OPD timings for doctors may vary depending on their availability, hence it is always advisable to check for an appointment prior to your visit.

  • We strongly advice our patients/caregivers to carry all relevant, prior medical reports arranged in a chronological order as this will help our doctors understand the patient’s medical history.

  • Upon your arrival at SSCHRC, you will have to meet the front office executive in the reception, who will then direct you with the registration process. We have several volunteers at the reception to assist you with the registration process and other activities at SSCHRC.

  • Following the registration, you will be given a patient file along with a guide book that describes all the facilities at the hospital and the do’s and don’ts. Kindly go through it carefully.

  • You will then be directed to the doctors’ consultation waiting area. Please be aware that there may be some waiting involved.

  • A suspicion or diagnosis of cancer can be quite daunting, especially if you are not sure about what to do next. At Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, we are here to guide you every step of the way.

  • Upon your arrival at SSCHRC, inform the front office executive at the reception that you would like to meet the resident medical officer (RMO). The executive will then guide you to the RMO who is available Monday to Saturday between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.

  • We strongly advice our patients/caregivers to carry all relevant, prior medical reports arranged in a chronological order as this will help our doctors understand the patient’s medical history.

  • The RMO will go through your medical records and direct you to the appropriate specialists for further investigations or treatment.

  • Following this, you will have to meet the front office executive in the reception, who will then direct you with the registration process. We have several volunteers at the reception to assist you with the registration process and other activities at SSCHRC.

  • Following the registration, you will be given a patient file along with a guide book that describes all the facilities at the hospital and the do’s and don’ts. Kindly go through it carefully.

  • Depending on the doctor’s availability, you will either be able to meet the doctor on the same visit or given an appointment for the next earliest date.

  • Upon entering SSCHRC, request the front office executive at the reception to meet the RMO (Resident Medical Officer), available Monday to Saturday – 09:00 am to 05:00 pm.

  • Based on your individual medical history and family history the RMO will suggest an appropriate set of tests or screening packages for you.

  • You will then proceed to pay for these tests and get the required procedures done.

  • Once the reports for the tests are ready, please take the reports to the RMO, who will evaluate it and advice appropriate steps.

  • If there are any abnormal findings in the report, the RMO will refer you to a specialist for further evaluation. You will then proceed to the registration process as mentioned above.

  • If your reports seem normal, the RMO will guide you for an appropriate follow up plan and suggest health/lifestyle modifications to reduce your risk of developing cancer in the future.

  • If there is a suspicion of genetically inherited cancers in your family, the RMO may guide you to our Genetic Counsellor.
