Intern at SSCHRC 

Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre is a super specialty hospital that diagnoses and treats high volumes of rare and complex cancer cases in the state. The hospital has a unique model of low cost-high quality model that ensures optimized care. This makes our hospital an ideal learning centre for young doctors, dentists, pharmacologists, nurses and hospital management students to observe and train for a short a period of time.

If you are interested in spending your time spreading joy by helping out at Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, we’d be happy to have you on board with our volunteer team - CANAID!

 

CANAID is our dedicated network of volunteers who spend their time helping our SSCHRC Team with day-to-day activities as well as providing comfort and support to our patients. 

The opportunities to volunteer at SSCHRC can be broadly classified into long term and short term depending on the requirement of the task.

Volunteer Roles

  • Patient Co-ordination - guide around the hospital, OPD management, Day care chemo assistance (Long term)

  • Chemotherapy ward - assistance and moral support (Long term)

  • Abandoned or lonely patients, camp patients - support and help (Long term)

  • Procure patient feedback (Short term)

  • Data entry (Short term)

  • Organize fund-raising events (Short term)

  • Help conduct awareness programs (Short term)

  • Create awareness material (Short term)

 

Since we function in an environment that requires us to be aware and sensitive of the fragile physical and mental status of our patients and their families, we look for certain qualities in our volunteers so that everyone’s time is used in the best way possible.

Please bear in mind that the physical and emotional status of our patients will be very delicate and their safety and wellbeing is our biggest priority. Hence, we have designed a process to ensure the best contributions from our well-wishing volunteer community is used most effectively.

Student Observers

At Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, we believe young talent and interest in service to humanity must be nurtured and given a chance to blossom.

We frequently allow a few students to volunteer/observe the day to day activities at Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre. This experience provides the youth with a chance to explore various opportunities to contribute to cancer care in the present or future.

Please keep in mind the access you may get to patients and their treatment may be limited as the mental and physical wellbeing of our patients is of the highest priority to us.
